My Best Friends Are Balls by Jen Jenivive

Funny Books for Adults That Look Like Children's Books

The funniest books for adults in my shop are My Best Friends Are Balls, Spit or Swallow?, Meet My Friend Little Willy and Gobble My Sausage. Each one looks like a children's picture book and reads like innuendo from start to finish, so you can finish it in five minutes and quote it for a year. They are £12.99 paperbacks of 24 to 35 pages, written for adults only.

I'm Jen Jenivive, a British author, and I write and sell these myself. Below are the eight I would hand to someone who asked me for a laugh, with what each one is about, taken from the book listings.

Eight funny books for adults

My Best Friends Are Balls

The bestseller that started the series. It is a book about balls, packed with innuendos only adults will understand, over 24 pages. If they like it, there is a sequel, a prequel and a colouring book.

Spit or Swallow?

A parade of characters each holding an item of food, and the only question is whether they spit or swallow. Food, of course. 31 pages.

Meet My Friend Little Willy

An adult parody about Little Willy, for anyone who can relate or knows someone who can. 35 pages, so one of my longer ones.

Gobble My Sausage

Simon the butcher has the most popular sausage in town until the love for it takes a dip. Will anyone gobble it now? 34 pages.

A-Z of Cocks

An alphabet book with a twist: feathered friends, garden tools, weather vanes and anything else that shares a certain name, from A to Z. 29 pages.

Fisting

Stuart loves fist bumping people and it has become a bit of a problem. The book is about fist bumps. Get your mind out of the gutter. 31 pages.

The Glorious Hole

Double meanings only golfers will understand. The one for the golfer. 31 pages.

Beth's Smelly Beaver

Beth's beaver smells so bad her mum comments and her boyfriend leaves, so she sets out to get it fresh again. 32 pages, and you can personalise it with another name.

How to choose

Match the title to the person. Golfers get The Glorious Hole, food lovers get Spit or Swallow?, and anyone new to my books starts with My Best Friends Are Balls. If you still can't pick, the full collection has every title on one page.

Every book here is a £12.99 paperback, and UK delivery is free over £25, so two books ship free. Pick the Autographed edition (£19.99) and I sign the cover and write a personal message inside; add a note at checkout saying who it is for. Allow up to 7 days for signed copies.

Questions people ask

Are these funny books suitable for children?

No. They are drawn like children's picture books, but every listing is marked For Mature Readers Only and the jokes are adult innuendo. Keep them on the grown-ups' shelf.

Can I get a funny book for adults signed?

Yes. Choose the Autographed edition (£19.99) on any book and I sign the cover and write a personal message inside. Add a note at checkout with the name and message. Allow up to 7 days.

Can I put someone's name in the book?

For some titles, yes. Beth's Smelly Beaver is one of 19 books with a customised edition, where the lead character carries the name you choose. See the personalised books page for the full list.
